CHAD HOLBROOK • HEAD COACH


Chad Holbrook
enters his eighth season as the head coach of the College of Charleston baseball program after leading the Cougars to their second CAA regular season title in the past three years and earning his second CAA Coach of the Year award.

With more than 20 years of coaching experience recruiting and producing top-level talent, being a part of two national championship teams and making six trips to the College World Series and 17 NCAA Regional appearances, Coach Holbrook is one of the most recognized names in the NCAA coaching ranks. He is the only active coach to have been to eight NCAA Super Regionals, six College World Series, five national championship appearances and won two national titles.


2024 (Overall Record: 41-14, CAA: 21-)
  • Cougars won the CAA regular season title for the second time in the past three years and reached the conference tournament championship game
  • Named the CAA Coach of the Year for the second time and had 10 players selected to the all-conference team, including five on the first team
  • Earned his 400th career win and 200th with the Cougars with a 17-8 win over Stony Brook on March 30
  • Seven players earned a CAA weekly award, and Cole Singsank was named the DI baseball, Perfect Game and NCBWA National Player of the Week on May 13

Associate Head Coach Co-recruiting Coordinator/Pitching Coach


Will Dorton
was promoted to Associate Head Coach/Co-Recruiting Coordinator on August 17, 2022 after wrapping up his fifth season as an assistant coach with the College of Charleston baseball program in the spring of 2022.

Dorton has transformed the Cougars’ pitching staff into one of the best in the nation as the program’s pitching coach over the last five seasons. Under Dorton’s tutelage, the Cougars have ranked amongst the top 30 in WHIP in four of the last five seasons as well finishing in the top 20 in ERA in three of the last five.

• ADAM BROWN •
Assistant Head Coach Co-recruiting Coordinator/Hitting Coach


Adam Brown
was announced as the assistant head coach and co-recruiting coordinator with the College of Charleston baseball program on August 11, 2022.

His first season at The College saw the Cougars finish among the top-five in the CAA in walks (274), doubles (116), fielding percentage (.970), runs scored (378), steals (92) and triples (15). Cole Mathis finished second in the CAA with 20 doubles and Joseph Mershon and Tyler Sorrentino finished first and fourth with five and four triples.
 
Brown comes to College of Charleston via USC Upstate where he spent two seasons as the Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. While in Spartanburg, Brown helped lead the Spartans to 72 wins and two of the top-10 team batting averages for a single season in program history with a .298 clip in 2021 and .296 mark in 2022.
 
“Adam is the perfect fit for our baseball program,” Holbrook said. “He’s a relentless and trustworthy recruiter, a great teacher of the game and has been a winner at every stop. His reputation in the coaching fraternity is flawless and we are so excited to welcome Adam, his wife Alyson and their two daughters Adason and Anslee to The College.”
 
Prior to USC Upstate, Brown coached at Morehead State where he helped lead the Eagles to their first OVC Tournament Title in 2015. Brown's pitching staff led the conference and set the OVC record for strikeouts (570) in 2018 en route to winning the OVC Tournament title and participating in the NCAA Clemson Regional.
 
In 2016, the offense again ranked near the top of the league and nation, ranking second in school history (only to the 2015 season) in six stats categories in the MSU record book. He was selected as the Ohio Valley Conference best recruiter by D1Baseball.com in 2016.
 
Prior to Morehead State, Brown made stops at Louisburg College, a junior college in Louisburg, NC, Gardner-Webb and Winthrop.
 
A native of Summerville, S.C., Brown began his coaching career at his alma mater of Summerville High School as an assistant varsity baseball coach.
 
Brown graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science from Charleston Southern University in 2007 where he was recognized as a Scholar Athlete in six of his eight semesters. On the baseball field, he was a four-year letterman playing every infield position.
 
He is married to Alyson LaVigne Brown and they have two daughters, Adason and Anslee.

Director of Baseball Operations and Executive Assistant to the Head Coach


Sam Gjormand
completed her third season in the spring of 2024 as Director of Baseball Operations and Executive Assistant to the Head Coach with the College of Charleston baseball program.
 
“Sam is a huge addition to our program,” Holbrook said. “She is extremely talented and knowledgeable, and there is no doubt she will have a long successful career in baseball. We couldn’t be happier to have her join our program. She will be a vital part of our success.”
